Background and History
Powell Development Company is a family-owned and operated company based in Bellevue, Washington. The company was founded in 1989 by father and son team, Lloyd Powell and Peter Powell, each of whom has significant real estate development, property management, and commercial construction experience in previously-owned businesses.
Our development team has over 40 years experience in creating various types of commercial properties — from stand-alone projects including drug stores, banks, restaurants and daycare centers. The team at Powell also has outstanding experience in the development of mixed-use projects and the revitalization of existing shopping centers. To date we have developed and/or built over 50+ Albertsons, 25+ Walgreens and multiple projects for Costco, Fred Meyer, Safeway and Target. Currently, Powell Development is a Walgreens and Chase Bank preferred developer for the Pacific Northwest.
Powell’s Property and Asset Management division excels in leasing and managing retail shopping centers. Using our hands-on approach, we successfully manage over two dozen retail centers in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Utah. Building and maintaining relationships is key to our success — relationships with national retail chains, local businesses, and individual tenants. When combined with cost-effective maintenance standards, we can achieve the highest and best use goals for property owners the same way we have for the Powell Development portfolio.
The construction arm of Powell Development, Powell Construction Company, is backed by 50+ years in the commercial construction field. Acting as general contractor on many of our developments, Powell Construction also takes on independent commercial and public works projects. In addition, our construction team is an integral part of our development process and assists our property management division in the maintenance of the properties we manage.
